6 tips for a successful ski holiday

The snow has finally arrived, the pleasure of a ski holiday is looming, but the arrival in the ski resort can quickly turn into a nightmare if you haven't anticipated a few things... Discover our tips for a successful stay!

1 - Anticipate ski rental reservations and purchase of ski passes

Starting your stay by queuing up to rent the equipment of the week: it's not ideal! In the majority of resorts, it is now possible to book your equipment online, and you can pick it up when you arrive on the spot: it is very pleasant to be able to ski from the first day without stress. Likewise for ski passes, many ski resorts offer to recharge their ski-cards online, no need to queue up at the ski lift ticket offices!

2 - Choose your accommodation close to the ski slopes

On paper, you were assured that the first lifts of the resort were only 500 metres away. Yes, but have you ever thought about what could become 500 metres when you walk with your ski boots on your feet, two pairs of skis on your shoulders (yes, you must also wear the skis of the last one who is already having trouble moving forward), while giving your hand to a child? In short, it is better to find out in advance about the exact location of your accomodation, and ideally, select a hotel or a chalet from where you can go skiing right away. We have selected on Millevista beautiful hotels in the Alps that guarantee this type of facility, with a beautiful view guaranteed!

3 - Choose a resort where you can practice various activities

Because not everyone has to like skiing, and it's still nice to go with family or friends, choose a resort that offers many activities. Whether it are outside, such as marked trails for snowshoe rides, sledding areas or a beautiful skating rink, but also inside, such as a spa, a fitness area or a cinema, the goal is for everyone to find their way there and spend unforgettable holidays.

4 - Book your stay at the right time

What is the best time to go skiing? It all depends on your priorities! The last few years, at Christmas, it is becoming more and more difficult to find snow, unless you go to very high altitude ski resorts such as Tignes, Val Thorens, l'Alpe d'Huez or Chamonix. In February, on the other hand, the snow conditions are often optimal, and you will be able to enjoy the joys of skiing without limits. At Easter, the days are longer and the weather conditions are often quite favourable: less cold, more sunshine... long live the spring skiing! But the best thing is to come skiing out of season to enjoy the ski resorts with fewer people and better prices. And if you find rentals from Sunday to Sunday, you will be more relaxed on the roads.

5 - Enjoy local specialities

Because it would be a shame to leave without having at least once tasted a good fondue, raclette or tartiflette, don't forget to try some local specialities! For those who do not like cheese (it happens!), do yourself a favour by discovering a starred restaurant, such as Le Chabichou in Courchevel: a delight for your taste buds!

6 - Treat yourself to exceptional views

Finally, the last one: on Millevista, impossible to do without this one! Whether it is from your hotel room or your chalet, from the terrace of an altitude restaurant, or simply from the top of the slopes or from a chairlift, take time to contemplate the beauty of the landscapes that surround you: snow-capped summits, majestic mountain ranges, fir trees under the snow... breathtaking panoramas that deserve a photo!
