The Castillan, a 3-star hotel run by the same family for three generations, is located in the heart of the village of Alpe d'Huez. The resort, nicknamed "Île au Soleil" (island in the sun) because it enjoys around 300 days of sunshine a year, and its exceptional central location, offers a panoramic view of the Écrins and Taillefer group of mountains. The rooms are decorated in a traditional, cosy way, enjoying wood panelling and warm tones. The superior selection of south facing rooms come with a balcony and a magnificent view of the Oisans valley, the Ecrins and Taillefer mountains. The standard rooms face north and overlook the Grandes Rousses mountains and the village. The Chez Jules restaurant, which is open during the winter, is one of the oldest eateries in the resort; here you can enjoy quality traditional cuisine whilst admiring the amazing view of the Oisans. Throughout the seasons, there is plenty of activities for mountain and nature lovers: during the winter, skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating, whilst for the summer there are numerous hiking trails and enchanting mountain bike routes. After a day out in the fresh air, you can relax in the spa with a choice of treatments, available upon reservation, including hammam, Jacuzzi, sauna, relaxation room and massages.
