Located at the bank of the River Seine in Normandy, Le Havre is the second largest seaport in France after Marseille. After it was heavily bombed during World War II, the city was rebuilt in 1945 thanks to the plans of the architect Auguste Perret and his workshop. The city became known as the World Heritage of Humanity in 2005, as the town centre is now an outstanding example of urban postwar. Le Havre is a pleasant seaside resort and offers many cultural and sports activities for its residents.
