Belfort is a city with an extremely rich architectural heritage. In its center, one can admire old buildings with exteriors that consist of superb colours from different roses, red, blue and green. Some houses and buildings are made of Vosges sandstone. Things to see: The lion of Belfort 22m long in pink sandstone, the superb citadel Vauban dating from the 12th century and fortified by the architect, Louis XIV as well as many forts are worth visiting. Book your hotel in Belfort and visit Fort Justice, Fort des Barres, and especially Fort de la Miotte and its tower from where the panorama of Belfort city and the massif des Vosges is absolutely superb. In the old town of Belfort, the Saint-Christophe Cathedral in sandstone of the Vosges and the church of Saint-Joseph are a must-see.
